Her~Journey is about responding to God's call to love and serve others. Life takes us on many journeys. What makes them special is the people we meet and the relationships we build along the way. Some journeys are joyful and exciting while others are scary and uncertain. None the less, we venture out knowing that God is with us, watching over us.
This journey started out helping a family who was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was an unbelievable blessing to be able to get to know them and love them through the trials and devastation of this illness. What was amazing was that during this time, God was already planning our next journey~an unexpected move to Houston, Texas. Houston is home to MD Anderson, a world renowned medical center known for the treatment of cancer. With God's help, we were able to make this move with a new mission. The mission was to have a "home away from home" that offered free housing to cancer patients receiving treatment at MD Anderson. This home would be "Donna's House". By the grace of God and many, many generous people, we were able to open the door of Donna's House in May of 2015.
There is such a need for affordable housing for those seeking treatment at MD Anderson. A cancer diagnosis turns life as you know it upside down in an instant.
For that reason, it is our goal to open another "home away from home"~ to love and serve one family at a time as they are on their own cancer journey. It may be their first diagnosis, or their last, but one thing is certain, they will know the love of Jesus Christ, and they will have an angel named Donna Jones watching over them.
